ABOUT THIS SITE

I have lived on the the lake, on and off since the day I was born. My great great grandparents Edward and Pieta Kubitschek arrived from Bohemia and purchased a large parcel of land on the south shore in the late 1800's. They created a small settlement by selling off lots to other family members. By the early 1900's many of them had built cabins out of old boxcar lumber and began spending their summers on the lake. With the limited transportation available at the time, this area became the "up north" for residents of St. Paul. When I was born in 1950 the area was being fully developed..
Fortunately, I have a family of storytellers and I grew up listening to all the fish tales, gangster stories, and family scandals that occurred on the lake. When I returned from my world travels I realized what a jewel the lake is and started collecting information about it. When my son was born, I began to telling him the stories that I had been told and saw that he was as fascinated by them as I was. So I started writing, doing some research and photo collecting and now have a book full that is still expanding. As soon as I have the photos and text formatted I will release the book for public consumption.
